Did history repeated itself? Is this the trade that has officially brought excitement back to the NBA? Some would agree and some would say it was when Lebron James left Cleveland to join the Miami Heat. In my opinion, trades like this help fertilize season's and get fans back in their seats ready for more. As far as why the trade happened, speaking from a Magics fan standpoint, Dwight simply wasn't satisfied in Orlando as a franchise player. Plus the Magic's Team Management did not make good moves to build a playoff team after their defeat in the 2008-09 finals against the L.A. Lakers.
Even then, talks amongst my group of friends circled on Dwight's possibility as a Laker. There are fans who claim they are loyal Magic fans, here in Orlando Florida, who are upset about the trade even though it was obvious and historic. This trade has happened before in the 90's with Shaquille O'neal without half the coverage it was given with Dwight. Most fans here should have known this was coming if the management didn't make the right moves after that playoff run in 09. Yet sad faces is all you see here amongst fans who don't understand the game, they just want to see their Magic play and win. I think this move was great for Dwight's career and wonderful for the NBA's 2012-13 season. More match ups and possibilities are being discussed around the league, in the media, and among fans as this season boils up. In other words, once again it's a very exciting time to be a Laker fan!
If anyone reading this likes this trade and has more to offer to the subject, please post your thoughts and opinions for further discussion. And Go Magi- I mean Go Lakers!
